Fifteen people arrived Friday evening at our home for the first Vision Retreat for Focus Groups, eager to listen to God and each other, ready to take the next step in exploring what Wellspring Littleton’s new paradigm for life groups was all about.

Lanny started by asking “what do you understand Focus Groups to be?”

Several good answers were offered: “small groups formed around a missional purpose” and “groups gathered together to help each other be more intentional and purposeful in being salt and light in the activities we’re already involved in” and “a grassroots movement, where the ideas for how we’re going to attract people to Jesus come from us in the congregation, rather than top-down from the leadership.”

Tim then anointed each person for their sacred alone time with God, and each person found a quiet place in our home or in the Soots home across the street. A few reflection questions prompted our individual prayer times, as we spent time listening, thinking, praying, reflecting, or just sitting in God’s presence.

Reconvening, we shared our thoughts with each other. We heard people’s hearts, their burdens, their ideas. Lanny also reminded us that although these groups focus on those outside the church, they will also contribute to community and fun, and will provide a context to care for one another as we grow in obedience and Christlikeness.  We are looking forward to seeing how God is going to raise up leaders for the areas of interest that are being expressed, and how He will use all of us to be the aroma of Christ in Littleton.

Two more opportunities for Wellspring Littleton folks to attend a Vision Retreat will be Saturday, Nov 7th 9-11 am and Sunday, Nov 15th 4-6pm. Contact us at carlalanny@gmail.com for questions or RSVP.
