The Well

The fundamental message of The Well, a compassionate ministry of Wellspring, is “welcome.” All are invited to gather together for a meal, groceries, conversation and prayer each Sunday after church. While many who are poor, unemployed and hopeless come and leave with food, those who have and those who have not are invited to share conversation, Jesus’ love and a good meal.

Who We Are

Food Closet at The WellThe Well operates on the principles of extending Christian hospitality and seeing life transformation. We make no distinction on who is worthy and who is not to join us at the table. We offer a hot meal, groceries for up to three meals, connection to community resources and prayer.  We offer mentoring and case management assistance to those in need.  For those wanting to leave addictions, Wellspring’s Celebrate Recovery group, R@W, meets every Tuesday at 6:30.  And Wellspring also reaches out “on the streets” through Fishes ‘n’ Loaves, an outreach ministry to the homeless that meets every Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Cushing Park.

Sharing a meal at The WellStarting in 2003 handing out small bags of food, we now provide choice for our guests in selecting the food they want, a best-practice in food pantries. Along the way, we decided to eat lunch together because so many were hungry when they came to our doors. The meal brings many volunteers to the Well as families to serve those in need. Kids love being able to help and the Well is a place where parents, kids and friends can serve together. Interviewers meet with each person wanting food to talk through needs, offer connection to community resources, and offer prayer.

Sharing a meal at The WellOur mission: We envision God working through us to release those imprisoned by addiction, to heal those wounded by abuse, to renew those caught in despair, to empower those impoverished by unemployment, to redeem those enslaved by sin. We are committed to revealing the power of the gospel in tangible acts of hospitality and compassion.

Volunteering

If you are interested in helping out at The Well, there are several ways to get involved:

  1. Sunday lunch – Prepare and serve lunch with your family and/or friends for around 100 people.
  2. Interviews – Offer a safe place to sit down face-to-face and talk over needs, options for help from agencies in the community, and pray for those needs.
  3. Deliveries – Each Friday help unload, sort, and organize food for distribution on Sunday.
